Cats in the Community: Help Make Over Project YES!

Volunteer registration is open for Cats in the Community Day, UA’s annual faculty, staff and student volunteer event, scheduled Saturday, March 7.

This year, the UA is partnering with Tucson Urban League’s Project YES – an after-school tutoring and mentoring program (located at 100 West 37th St.) that helps 80-100 elementary school children every afternoon.

More than 400 UA faculty, staff and student volunteers are needed to upgrade and beautify the Project YES site.  read more »

"Winning Their Place: Arizona Women in Politics, 1883-1950" author to speak

Heidi J. Osselaer, faculty associate in the Department of History at ASU, will speak at 7 p.m. April 2 about her book "Winning Their Place: Arizona Women in Politics: 1883-1950." This new publication of the University of Arizona Press examines women in Arizona politics from the territorial era to just after World War II. There will be a question and answer session and light refreshments following the talk in the Special Collections Reading Room. The book also will be available for purchase and for signing.  read more »

Malicious Software Alert

Malicious computer software known as Conficker or Downadup has infected millions of computers worldwide and is gaining momentum. Some of the infections have occurred at The University of Arizona. Nearly all Microsoft Windows-powered computers can be compromised by Conficker. Computer security researchers expect that Conficker will enable unauthorized people to gain control of infected computers and the data on them.  read more »

UA Career Services Rolls Out New Program for Students

Established in 1983, the Five Star Faculty Award is The
University of Arizona's only student-nominated and -selected teaching award for undergraduate professors. The award is sponsored through the UA Honors College.

Continuum

Continuum is a celebration to inaugurate the School of Art's Visual Arts Graduate Research Laboratory – 50 studios for graduate art students and a gallery. This two-day event (Friday, February 20, 5-11 p.m.; Saturday, February 21, noon to 5 p.m.) features artwork from current and past art faculty and students. In addition to the exhibition and sale of artworks from 100 artists, there are also demonstrations, adult and children's workshops and lectures.

Volunteer for the Tucson Festival of Books

The Talkies Come to Town: Vaudeville on Film

Retired professor's cats need a home

Former Plant Sciences professor Christina Kennedy has become too ill to care for her cats and we are looking for a loving home for them. Bubbles and Squeak are sister and brother, neutered, 2 years old, healthy, and well-socialized. Bubbles is orange and cream and Squeak is a gray tabby.
