University Libraries' Spending Reduction: Feedback Due by March 16, 2009

In order to address projected inflation in the cost of resources for 09/10 and 10/11 as well as cover a current shortfall of $250K, the University Libraries and Center for Creative Photography must reduce spending on library resources by $1.26M. This amount is based on an average inflation of 7% and assumes no increase to the Information Access Budget (IAB) and a reallocation to cover the shortfall. The IAB cuts will include all resource types (databases, journals, books, etc.).  read more »

The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension initiatives in nutrition, healthy lifestyles, early brain development, food safety, financial management, kinship care and parenting enable citizens to gain knowledge and skills to lead full and productive lives. Food Drive to "Stuff The Bus"

The Staff Advisory Council, Parking & Transportation Services and UA Community Relations have joined forces for the first annual Stuff-The-Bus campaign to benefit the Tucson Community Food Bank. The community is encouraged to contribute unopened canned and non-perishable items. We are particularly focusing on foods that are in great need, in particular cereal, canned meats and canned vegetables. Cash contributions will also be accepted.

Stuff-The-Bus will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 2nd, at Cherry & University on the UA campus.  read more »

The University Teaching Center is Announcing Walk-in Office Hours

March 1 Deadline for Staff Scholarship Approaching!

The Emily Krauz Staff Endowment Scholarship is open to non-probationary, benefits-eligible (0.50 FTE or more) UA career staff members who are permanent resident aliens or U.S. citizens. The purpose of this fund is to encourage and support UA classified staff members in their career advancement and/or continuing education. KFS Go Live Delay Announcement

The Mosaic Executive Steering Committee, along with the
leadership of the Mosaic Financial Systems team, and with the support of the UA senior leadership, has decided to delay the Kuali Financial System (KFS) implementation Go Live date of July 13, 2009 until January 2010. This decision is based primarily on the fact that the official release of KFS 3.0 software from the Kuali Foundation has been delayed from its original date of December 2008.  read more »

Fernando Gallego and His Workshop: The Altarpiece from Ciudad Rodrigo

The Group for Early Modern Studies and the Museum of Art present lectures by Pia Cuneo, Professor of Art History -
"'Declaratio' and 'Delectatio': The Functions of Altarpieces in Renaissance Europe" and Therese Martin, Professor of Art History - "Style and Influence: Queen Isabel's Taste and Late Fifteenth-Century Spanish Art" Wednesday, February 25, 2009 4:00-5:30pm at the UA Museum of Art, Retablo Room.

Pia F. Cuneo specializes in the art of the Northern Renaissance. Her lecture will address the forms and functions of fifteenth- and sixteenth-century European altarpieces, and will thus provide a comparative context for Gallego's Retablo.

Therese Martin specializes in the art and architecture of medieval Spain. Her lecture will address the role Isabel of Castile played as arbiter of taste; the queen's patronage of Hispano-Flemish works contributed to the dominance of this style in fifteenth-century Castilian paintings, among others the Retablo of Ciudad Rodrigo.  read more »

East University Blvd., at the West Gate, will be closed all day to public vehicle access this Saturday and Sunday, February 21 – 22. This closure will accommodate the Annual Southwest Indian Art Fair.

Friday, February 20, access will be restricted from 8:30am – 12:30pm to accommodate vendor unloading in this area.

PTS Acts To Protect Cyclists

Beginning February 21, 2009, UA Parking & Transportation Services in partnership with the City of Tucson Transportation Department will install the region's first "Bike Box" on southbound Highland Avenue at Sixth Street, which is the southern gateway for bicyclists to the the UA campus.  read more »

Memorial for Michalene Cardella

The UA School of Dance students and Dancer's Consortium are organizing a memorial on Feb. 16, 2009 for Michalene Cardella – School of Dance administrative assistant who passed away in January.

The memorial will be from 3:15 – 3:45 p.m. and will begin in the Ina Gittings Courtyard. Anyone who knew Michalene is welcome to attend.
