Three reptile experts from Arizona will lead a special "Learn Your Lizards Guided Walk" Saturday, July 12 at Boyce Thompson Arboretum.
Author Tom Brennan literally wrote the book on lizards with his published "Reptiles of Arizona." Brennan, along with University of Arizona reptile researcher Phil Rosen and Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Randy Babb, will conduct the free guided walk beginning at 8:30 a.m. and lasting until 10 a.m. Because all three researchers will be on hand for the educational walk, the tour can accommodate a larger attendance than normal. Lizard walks are popular with children of all ages.
Desert Spiny Lizards at the arboretum sometimes can grow as big as bratwursts. This entertaining tour will show participants how to identify common lizard species. Bring your binoculars.
Boyce Thompson Arboretum is located on U.S. Highway 60 three miles west of historic Superior and a short drive from Mesa. Summer hours are 6 a.m.-3 p.m. every day. Phone 520-689-2723 or click http://www.btarboretum.org for more information.
