The president of the Arizona Board of Regents, Ernest Calderón, visited the University of Arizona campus earlier this month, taking part in several University and community events and sharing his perspectives on higher education and the challenges he and his fellow regents are facing.

During the Oct. 5 visit, Calderón met with UA President Robert N. Shelton’s Hispanic Diversity Advisory Council and also addressed the UA Faculty Senate. Calderón also met with community leaders, including the Arizona Daily Star's editorial board and Bill Buckmaster, host of KUAZ's "Arizona Illustrated." Tucson community leader Frank Felix organized an open forum at the Tucson YWCA for Calderón and Shelton.
