NW corner of Arizona Stadium, just east of Vine Ave. and south of the stadium restrooms.
We hope that advance notice of an upcoming construction activity will prevent unnecessary concern or surprise for those in the southern portion of campus. A new steam line that has been installed near 4th St. & Vine Ave. must be flushed before it can be put into service.
The exercise involves the controlled release of a full 8" steam line for a few minutes resulting in a large plume of steam and a loud screeching noise. The flush may need to be repeated 2-3 times that morning to ensure that the line is clean. The area will be cordoned off to protect the public, but it is not expected that the activity will affect any building occupants or the motoring public.
Another flush is tentatively scheduled for the following Saturday, June 27, 2009 on the west side of the new Student Recreation Center Expansion project, south of 6th Street along Vine Ave. Another construction notice will be sent out when the date and time is confirmed.
