Astrophotographers combine a passion for astronomy with photography, capturing photons of ancient starlight with telescopes and digital cameras to make dazzling images of distant objects in the night sky.

Adam Block is one of the best of them anywhere.

And he's eager to "share my passion for astronomy through public speaking and creating images of the universe," he said.

Esham Recognized With Distinguished Administrator Award

Gary D. Esham, associate dean for finance and administration for The University of Arizona College of Optical Sciences, has been given the 2008 Distinguished Research Administrator Award.

The award, established by the UA’s Office of the Vice President for Research, Graduate Studies and Economic Development, is presented annually to an individual who exemplifies the ideals of integrity and sustained excellence in research administration. read more »

UA Foundation Hires Auslander as Consultant for AZ Assurance

The University of Arizona Foundation has hired former UA administrator Edith Sayre Auslander to serve as a consultant for the newly created Arizona Assurance scholarship program.

Auslander, who recently retired from her post as UA vice president and senior associate to the president, will lead the private support effort for the need-based scholarship program initiated by UA President Robert N. Shelton. read more »

Time to Break Out in Red

University of Arizona employees and students will have not one but two opportunities to show their school spirit this week.

Tomorrow is "Sea of Red Day," when everyone on campus is encouraged to wear red to show support for the UA. The event is a staple of Wildcat Welcome, several days of events that are organized each fall to welcome students to campus. read more »
